I'll try to watch as many DVD per month as I can, so I'll watch then as soon as they arrive and try to get them returned later in the day. Blockbuster will slow down the turn-around (5-8 days) so I'll get less then 25 DVD per month on the average (20 mailed & 5 in-store returns).

$21.95 / 25 DVDs = $0.878 per DVD

But, when I am using the return envelope as a $1.99 rental coupon, the turn-around time is much improved (3 days), averaging 35 DVD per month, 30 mailed & 5 in-store returns, (not including 25 $1.99 rentals).

($21.95 + $1.99 x 25) / 60 DVDs = $1.195 per DVD

I guess they want to make money, but they don't need to act dumb about what's going on when I complain about delivery times. If they are late, I almost always ask for an e-coupon for a free in-store rental.

Delivery time is variable. Once I returned a video after 5 p.m. and got notice it had been received at Blockbuster by 7:30 the next morning. They sent out the next item in my queue by 11:30 a.m. Other times, I've gotten notice that a video had been shipped to me, and I've gotten it 4 days later. For no apparent reason, from time to time they will extend my queue to 4 rentals out at a time, but eventually, it goes back down to 3. Membership also includes in-store video rental which may include DVD's, VHS or Video Games from your local Blockbuster (Separate store membership is required to get these freebies). This adds an extra value to this service.
